Despite its simplicity and rationality, the bridge gives a lot of bright and unforgettable impressions. Crossing the bridge in different levels on foot or by bike becomes an exciting emotional adventure!
In the center of the bridge is Angel’s Point – one of the most beautiful panoramas of the city. You are amazed by the spectacular spectacle. Below you – the ice-cafe “Angel”, only in it you can taste “food of the gods” – a special air ice cream. It is sold only in this cafe, and nowhere else in the world!
Here is Angel’s Post – you buy a white ribbon, write your name and send a message to your Guardian Angel, tying the ribbon to the bridge fence. Thousands of people celebrate this way visiting the Bridge of Angels and, gradually, over time, the bridge becomes the Guardian Angel of the whole city, another page of his ancient mythology.
Thus, in the constellation of tourist attractions in Kiev appears a new bright star – Bridge of Angels / Bridge of Angels.
Design
“Angel” touched the ground in three points – the tips of the wings and the intermediate support that connected it with the park. The support not only reduces the span and changes the direction of the bridge, but also allows you to descend from the bridge to the park and climb from the park to the bridge. The ladder along the support is also an additional way of evacuation from the ice-cafe.
“Angel Wings” have a span of 89 and 111 meters, each of them consists of 2 farms, curved vertically and horizontally to ensure spatial stability. A pedestrian route runs along the upper belt of the farms, and on the lower – a more “extreme” route with a difference in heights, for bicyclists, skaters, skaters, etc.
The method of building a bridge is “angelic”, i.e., the most gentle in relation to the unique nature of the park and its relief. It minimizes the use of cranes and heavy equipment.
First, a central support is built with a cafe and a staircase, then a temporary cable-stayed structure is moved between it and the end platforms, to which the scaffolds for mounting the trusses are mounted. The first step is to mount the lower belt of the trusses according to the principle of a bend-tight yarn. It can consist of either composite I-beams or reinforcing bars. Then, an upper belt with braces is installed, as well as transverse beams between the trusses. After this, a profiled metal sheet is mounted over the beams, along which the deck board is laid over the crate. Deck board can be both natural and artificial (such as “decking”). In the end, the fences and the enclosing contour of the central area with the cafe are mounted.
